Hello,
I'm Anna, founder of Robin's Nest Learning Centre.
 

I was born and raised in Llantwit Major and am incredibly proud to call this community home. Having grown up here, I understand the importance of providing high-quality opportunities for local children and families. Robin's Nest Learning Centre was created with a genuine commitment to supporting the young people of Llantwit Major and the surrounding areas, helping them develop confidence, achieve their potential and thrive both academically and personally.
 

I have spent over 30 years working in education and have been privileged to support children and young people across a wide range of settings and age groups. My career began in primary education, where I taught across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, including working in an international British school in Singapore. I also led a Key Stage 2 BESD provision and developed a specialism in ALN literacy support, helping children build confidence and success in reading and writing.
 

Throughout my career, I have been passionate about supporting learners through key stages of their education. This led me to move into secondary education, where I initially supported pupils with transition from primary school.  I then taught KS3 Humanities before moving to supporting students in KS4, teaching GCSE English and Foundation Maths, Study Skills and Prince's Trust. I also held senior leadership positions in a high-performing secondary school with 'World Class' status as Director of Learning and Director of Literacy, where I led staff and curriculum development, reading and writing strategies and whole-school improvement initiatives.
 

Alongside my school-based roles, I worked as a freelance educational consultant for the Times Educational Supplement, contributing to training programmes focused on Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and inclusive practice.
 

I currently teach GCSE English and GCSE Maths within a Pupil Referral Unit, supporting young people with BESD (Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties) and EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance). This role continues to strengthen my understanding of how to support learners who may have experienced barriers to education, anxiety around learning or a loss of confidence in the classroom.
 

My approach is grounded in relational practice. I firmly believe that the best outcomes for children begin with strong, trusting relationships. Before meaningful learning can take place, children need to feel safe, understood, valued and respected. By taking the time to build genuine connections with each learner, I create an environment where confidence can grow, challenges can be overcome and success becomes achievable.
 

Over the years, I have designed high-quality teaching resources, developed innovative curricula, implemented effective reading and writing strategies, and remained committed to educational research and evidence-informed practice. However, my greatest passion has always been helping children believe in themselves and recognise their own potential.
 

Robin's Nest Learning Centre was created to provide a calm, supportive and nurturing environment where every child can develop confidence, strengthen their skills and reach their full potential. I believe that when children feel connected, supported and understood, they are empowered to succeed.
